Follow on work: After the above vacuum work was finished T. J. Lee (Senior Research Fellow, Royal Obervatory, Edinburgh, working at Culham) took over use of the special cryopumping test rig that had been developed and used for a number of the studies reported above. He published a number of papers concerning the apparent anomaly that had been found in the vapour pressue curve of hydrogen and confirmed the expectation [2 & 5 above] this was due to thermal radiation loading. The following papers have relevance to the above cryopumping studies:

  1. "The condensation of H2 and D2: Astrophysics and vacuum technology" T. J. Lee J. Vac Sci and Tech 9 p257

  2. "The condensation and evaporation of hydrogen on liuid helium cooled surfaces" T. J. Lee J. Proc 3rd Intl Cryogenic Eng Confr, Berlin, 25-27 May 1970

  3. "Condenstaion of hydrogen on interstellar grains" T. J. Lee, L. Gowland, V. C. Reddish Nature 231 June 28 1971 p193
