JCI SOFTWARE for numerical monitoring of electrostatic conditions and for measuring charge decay

Software facilities have been developed to link JCI 155 Charge Decay Test Units to microcomputers for real time display, storage and quantitative analysis of observations.

Software DECAY18 was developed for making and analysing charge decay studies for assessing the ability of materials to dissipate static with JCI 155v4 instruments. This programs requires operation in true MSDOS - and this has ceased to be available in operating systems after Windows 98. In view of the demise of MSDOS a) we have discontinued production of the C option for JCI 140 instruments, and b) we have developed the new version JCI 155v5 instrument with its own integral microprocessor.

For data recording from the analogue output of JCI 140 and JCI 140F instruments we now recommend use of a Picoscope digital storage oscilloscope. This enables observations to be made into a PC at low cost and to the full response capability of JCI 140 and JCI 140F instruments. The data logging capability provides opportunity for detailed monitoring of long term observations.

Software JCI-Graph enables charge decay observations, recorded from operation of older JCI 155v4, as well as new JCI 155v5 instruments, to be processed and graphed within a Windows 95/98, 2000, XP or NT operating environment. Charge decay graphs and details of test results and conditions can be displayed, manipulated and transferred into other Windows applications - such as Word documents. A summary table of results is presented as a .csv file that can easily be loaded into popular Spreadsheets, such as Excel, and from there into wordprocessd documents. (The User Manual for JCI-Graph is available on this Website).

HELP LINE
JCI offers consultancy through which we advise and assist customers who need to assess and overcome problems with static electricity. We also test customer materials for static charge dissipation performance and for 'capacitance loading' characteristics.
